XL5ive Swaggers Back to Budapest

Personality & Entertainment
XL5ive, a fast rising Nigerian songwriter, producer and vocalist, swaggered back to his former place where he dazzled the Hungarian audience at the Soho London club in downtown Budapest.

He performed along with another Nigerian artist B-Best in continuation of Nigeria’s Golden Independent Jubilee which was marked in the Danube region on October 29.

Before Soho London performance, XL5ive had treated Nigerians with different songs at the popular Europa Congress Centre in Budapest, the choice for the Gala Night.

With his knowledge of Magyar or Hungarian, it is no surprise that the audience – mostly Hungarians – yearned for more. “I love Nigerian artists, music and culture,” screamed Julia, Hungarian lady who says she couldn’t “resist” the night

As at the time of going to press, XL5ive is still in Budapest “cooking” something for his fans as part of the efforts to remain at the top when it comes to Afro-European music.

XL5ive told African News Hungary that he considers his trip to Budapest as positive because it was a cool reunion with old pals like Ereola Records’ Managing Director, Mr. Toyin Akinwumi.

Apart from that he explained that he had a chance to do a song for Christmas hit with top DJ and producer in Hungary, Bruck Mann.

XL5ive whose real name is Perry Stevenson Ohens disclosed that a nation wide tour will take place in November to April. “People will hear the song during the gigs,” he said, adding that the tour will be in Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Kwara, Kogi through East and North to Abuja.

XL5ive who prefers to call himself up& coming artist said that he was quite okay with Naija music which he described as Afro Hip-Hop. He quickly added that the prominent music in Africa now is Swagger.

A multi-linguist, XL5ive said that he would rather go with the flow as Swagger music is concerned because “I don’t want to be a fish swimming out of water”. Although he said that Swagger had already taken its root before he relocated to Nigeria, he studied the market well in order to blend well.

While it took Swagger My way two weeks to produce, XL5ive also disclosed that there are already 15 songs ready for album.

His message for Nigerian fans: “XL5ive is keeping it real in Budapest. Would be back to Nigeria soon to give you what I have been cooking in Budapest”.

Love the article on Gaddafi
We must rise above tribalism & divide & rule of the colonialist who stole & looted our treasure & planted their puppets to lord it over us..they alone can decide on whosoever is performing & the one that is corrupt..but the most corrupt nations are the western countries that plunder the resources of other nations & make them poorer & aid the rulers to steal & keep such ill gotten wealth in their country..yemen,syria etc have killed more than gadhafi but its not A̷̷̴ good investment for the west(this is laughable)because oil is not in these countries..when obasanjo annihilated the odi people in rivers state, they looked away because its in their favour & interest..one day! Hello from
Johannesburg
I was amazed to find a website for Africans in Hungary.
Looks like you have quite a community there. Here in SA we have some three million Zimbabweans living in exile and not much sign of going home ... but in Hungary??? Hope to meet you on one of my trips to Europe; was in Steirmark Austria near the Hungarian border earlier this month. Every good wish for 2011. Geoff in Jo'burg

I'm impressed by
ANH work but...
Interesting interview...
I think from what have been said, the Nigerian embassy here seem to be more concern about its nationals than we are for ourselves. Our complete disregard for the laws of Hungary isn't going to help Nigeria's image or going to promote what the Embassy is trying to showcase. So if the journalists could zoom-in more focus on Nigerians living, working and studying here in Hungary than scrutinizing the embassy and its every move, i think it would be of tremendous help to the embassy serving its nationals better and create more awareness about where we live . Taking the issues of illicit drugs and forged documents as typical examples.. there are so many cases of Nigerians been involved. But i am yet to read of it in e.news. So i think if only you and your journalists could write more about it and follow up on the stories i think it will make our nationals more aware of what to expect. I wouldn't say i am not impressed with your work but you need to be more of a two way street rather than a one way street . Keep up the good work... Sylvia
