When a former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu offered on November 12, 2012, to negotiate the end of insurgency in the northern part of the country on Federal Government’s (FG) behalf, many Nigerians took him seriously, not the government.

As the accolades for Professor Chinua Achebe continue to pour in, two of his friends and travelers as a writer, Wole Soyinka and J. P Clark, say the loss is intensely personal.
“We have lost a brother, a colleague, a trailblazer and a doughty fighter,” they said in a joint statement released a short while ago.

Apart from truth, entering an organisation with any other weapon is dangerous. The once revered Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has allowed its house to be invaded with brigandage, tinkering and bickering all in a bid to making sure that Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State, who chairs the forum, is outdone. Conversely, what many of these politicians calling for Amaechi’s head do not understand or understood, but do not want to apply it in practice is that, finality is not the language of politics.
