Ozwald Boateng for Arise Fashion Week

International fashion designer, Ozwald Boateng  will join his other colleagues in the fashion industry for the Arise Fashion Week holding in Lagos  from March 6-11.

Already, some of the participants in the week-long event, including other designers, models and producers, have started arriving in Nigeria for the show.

Boateng,  a British fashion designer of Ghanaian descent, opened his first shop on Savile Row at the age of 23.
He was born in 1967 in Muswell Hill, North London to a teacher father that migrated to the United Kingdom in the 1950s and a mother who was involved in fabric trade in Ghana and became a seamstress in London when the family relocated.
He started learning about cutting and designing from his girlfriend at the age of 16 while studying computing at Southgate College.
He opened his first studio in Portobello Road in 1991 and in 1994, Boateng staged his first catwalk presentation during Paris Fashion Week, the first tailor to stage a catwalk show in Paris.
Besides Boateng, other designers expected at the A-rated event are Buki Akib, a Nigerian-born knitwear designer who graduated from the prestigious Central Saint in London; Gavin Rajah, an entrepreneur in the world of fashion and marketing  who is a household name in South Africa and David Saunders, a 35-year-old creator of London-based David David.
Others are the fashion  duo of Malcom Kluk and Christiaan Gabriel du Toit, who joined forces in 2005 to form Kluk CGDT; Lisa Folawiyo, who is the brain behind Jewel by Lisa and LDA which hit the fashion scene in 2005 with iconic 1940s couture signature designs.
Other participants include Tiffany Amber, Frank Osodi, Paul Hervé, Virgos Lounge and Mustafa Hassanali.
Tickets for the event is now selling at branches of GTBank in Ikoyi and Victoria Island, Lagos.
An entry ticket per show costs N5,000 while a VIP ticket for a show goes for N15,000. An all-week ticket for all shows is N20,000 and the all-week VIP ticket for all shows is N50,000.
