 Ethiopia gets news prime minister

A new Prime Minister, Hailemariam Desalegn has been sworn in on Friday to succeed late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.


Desaleg takes over the rein of power on Friday, following the death of Zenawi on Aug. 20 after ruling Ethiopia for more than two decades.

The country’s ruling political party, the Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front  last weekend named Hailemariam as chairman.

The Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front also controls the parliament in Ethiopia.
