Angola embassy in Budapest recently celebrated the country’s 38th Independence Anniversary at a get-together party held at the Intercontinental Hotel situated in district 5’s Budapest downtown.

The ambassador of Angola to Hungary used the “historic” occasion to emphasis on the Angolan president’s economic policy which is meant to promote ‘the economic diversification in such a way that our development process becomes less vulnerable and more sustainable’.

Ms Lizeth Satumbo Pena, who is the second Angolan ambassador since her country opened its embassy in Hungary in 2003, stated that Angola is counting on Hungary.

"As in the past, we are counting on Hungary to accompany us in this process," she said in what she described as a short speech.

Pena explained further that the strategic priority of Angolan government is basically to diversify the economy and, to promote an ambitious social policy by better redistributing the existing resources.

She also used the moment to appreciate both the government and private organisations for their efforts in ‘strengthening the relationships and the co-operation with  Africa in general and with Angola in particular’.

Pena specifically mention the Budapest Africa Forum saying, ‘the dialogues and the high level exchanges between the decision makers are evident signs of an excellent co-operation between our two countries’.

Also she said that Angola is highly interested in placing ‘more pronounced cultural dimension of our country’.  She added that Angola is a mosaic of peoples, whose ethnic diversity constitutes an endless wealth of talents, often hardly known abroad.
