A short note from a museum in Kesthely, Hungary

Our About Town man, Archie Bonka, recently spends some months in an African Museum in Kesthely in the Zala county area of Hungary where he plays golf, interacts with locals and tourists alike. He files this report and photographs for ANH edited by Hakeem Babalola

The summer holiday has come and gone without the usual wave heats we are used to – especially during the month of July and August. Instead we have the rain which prevented visitors and tourists from enjoying their holiday.

Nevertheless everywhere was green which makes the whole environment very beautiful.

There was a remembrance day for Dr. Nagy Andrea, the late founder of the museum and the hunters club in KESTHELY in the ZALA county area of Hungary. 

The event which proved to be a big turnout was to mark the 101-year birthday and remembrance of this extra-ordinary man who lived a life of generosity. 

His biography was read by one of the members of the hunters club from KESTEHELY hunters club. Those who had worked with him poured encomium on him for his vision and unselfishness contribution to the community and the world at large.  

Wreaths were laid on his statue which stands in a garden at the museum and another was laid at the cemetery where his body was buried in Tapolca-Hungary. Nagy’s half body was buried at his farm in Arusha- Tanzania. This obviously demonstrates the kind of man he was.

Reception was also given by the KESTEHELY hunters club and then the widow – Lady Katie as she is affectionately called – led the invited guests and well-wishers to the new coffee hang out in the museum dub the DZUNGI BUNGI.
