Obasanjo wants Nigeria & Hungary to collaborate in agriculture, small scale industry

Nigerian ex- president,
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, eventually honoured the invitation extended to him by
the organisers of a two-day conference summit on Africa which took
place on May 19 and 20 respectively at Zigmond király College in Budapest.
The conference meeting tagged Budapest
Africa Summit VI invited several speakers to discuss the main theme: Challenges
and Responses-Hungary for the Success of Africa.
Water, electricity, environmental, agriculture,
business and investment are some of the topics deliberated upon by numerous speakers who are experts in their respective fields.
Obasanjo, who was represented last year by his political associate, enjoined Hungarians to
partner with Nigeria
in the areas of agriculture and Small Medium Enterprise (SME) which he argued could
benefit both countries. He himself is believed to have Hungarians as agriculture
specialists developing his Ota farm situated in Ogun State, Nigeria.
He also used the forum to praise NGOs saying, they should continue with good work to keep the government on their toes since governments come and go.
Some of our sources explained that Obasanjo, who ruled Nigeria as a military head of state in the 70's and then as civilian president from 1999 to 2007, used the occasion to attend to some other matters close to his heart.
The controversial politician, whose party (PDP) suffered a substantial setback in the recent elections but still in power, first came to Hungary in 2001 in his capacity as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during which he was presented with the symbolic Key of Hungary by the then Mayor of Budapest, Demszky Gábor enabling him to enter Hungary without a visa.
