 Disfigured for leaving her husband

This photo of Aisha won the World Press Photo of the year 2010 and it is being displaced at the Neprajzi Museum, Budapest where a conference was held on September 29. African News Hungary gathered that Bibi Aisha was disfigured for leaving her husband who is a Taliban fighter. "You never forget the image," says Femke van der Valk, Project Manager, World Press Photo. "But [the woman] still has a lot of dignity".

Call on Libya to protect African migrants

President Goodluck Jonathan and Prime Minister Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia, Friday in Addis Ababa, called on the National Transition Council (NTC) in Libya to take urgent action to guarantee the safety of thousands of African migrants currently trapped in parts of the country.

Joint-Statement for a Western Sahara without violence and racism

 Since 25 September 2011, the Saharawi civilians in Dakhla, in the south of Western Sahara, are facing brutal and oppressive attacks from Moroccan armed militias. These militias reside in the Alwakala neighbourhood, home to thousands of Moroccan settlers brought into the territory by the Moroccan government in 1991, to participate in the envisioned referendum in Western Sahara.

It is becoming a fad. I mean kid prostitution. This once ugly trade is becoming a culture among many Nigerian populaces. They may call themselves liberals, but it is immodest to the conservatives. Hardly would anybody believe that a kid could become a sex worker, let a lone, being sent to such heinous trade by parents to keep the family treasury up. But we have seen and read such reports on the newspapers..
