MARRIAGE & RELATIONSHIP

 5 marriage myths debunked
By Sarah Mahoney

Many so-called "inevitable" marriage pitfalls are really just unexamined old wives' tales. On closer inspection, two facts become clear: There's only a trace of truth in each fable - but there's also the potential to retool them to make your relationship even closer. Here are five of the most enduring myths, plus new rules to replace them.

The Sun, ThisDay & the attacks
By Odimegwu Onwumere

"Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it" - (Psalm 34:14).

There is no rationale to why Boko Haram should bomb the offices of The Sun and ThisDay newspapers in Abuja and Kaduna on the 26th April, 2012, killing scores of guiltless people.

HEALTH & HYGINE

Beware the meat myths
By Bridget Lancaster

When it comes to cooking meat I have my own personal set of "rules." I prefer to grind my own meat, buy fresh and local whenever possible, and never, ever, buy meat on sale (think about it…) But there are quite a few rules that are based in fiction -- myths that have survived decades and continue to offer bad advice to the home cook. Let's bust them, shall we?

David-West & the truth of subsidy probe
 By Odimegwu Onwumere

Prof. Tam David-West
Professor Tam David-West represents truth, not the one many interpret from the religious angles for self-delight. His is the accurate denomination, where the body of knowledge is taught without preconceived notion. His philosophy and principles are aplomb and are the correct impressions that are not the formation of logic. His intuition to see beyond today stands him out.

IMMIGRATION

America: Undocumented immigrants' reason to stay
By Liz Goodwin

Erika Andiola still remembers the day Arizona's tough anti-illegal immigration bill, known as SB1070, passed. She had been protesting outside the state capitol for days, sleeping on the ground and fasting, when the word spread through the crowd. She got a call from her mother, who, like Andiola, is undocumented. She told her daughter not to move because she was afraid she would get taken away by the police and deported.

HUMAN RIGHTS

About six Ugandan female opposition activists stripped their clothes and took to the streets of Kampala, Uganda to protest the alleged sexual harassment of one of their own, on Friday.

HEALTH & HYGINE

How often do you clean your bedsheets?
No matter your relationship status, you never go to bed alone. Nestled within your sheets are countless intruders. For an explanation, we turned to Philip M. Tierno Jr., director of clinical microbiology and immunology at New York University's Langone Medical Center.

Traditional deities in clash with development projects
By Kofi Akosa-Sarpong
Mayor Samuel Sarpong
In Ghana/Africa, some development projects could be difficult to discharge against rigid traditional beliefs. In some places, such as Kumasi, capital of the Asante Region and Ghana’s second largest city, traditional beliefs clash with development projects.

Love the article on Gaddafi
We must rise above tribalism & divide & rule of the colonialist who stole & looted our treasure & planted their puppets to lord it over us..they alone can decide on whosoever is performing & the one that is corrupt..but the most corrupt nations are the western countries that plunder the resources of other nations & make them poorer & aid the rulers to steal & keep such ill gotten wealth in their country..yemen,syria etc have killed more than gadhafi but its not A̷̷̴ good investment for the west(this is laughable)because oil is not in these countries..when obasanjo annihilated the odi people in rivers state, they looked away because its in their favour & interest..one day! Hello from
Johannesburg
I was amazed to find a website for Africans in Hungary.
Looks like you have quite a community there. Here in SA we have some three million Zimbabweans living in exile and not much sign of going home ... but in Hungary??? Hope to meet you on one of my trips to Europe; was in Steirmark Austria near the Hungarian border earlier this month. Every good wish for 2011. Geoff in Jo'burg

I'm impressed by
ANH work but...
Interesting interview...
I think from what have been said, the Nigerian embassy here seem to be more concern about its nationals than we are for ourselves. Our complete disregard for the laws of Hungary isn't going to help Nigeria's image or going to promote what the Embassy is trying to showcase. So if the journalists could zoom-in more focus on Nigerians living, working and studying here in Hungary than scrutinizing the embassy and its every move, i think it would be of tremendous help to the embassy serving its nationals better and create more awareness about where we live . Taking the issues of illicit drugs and forged documents as typical examples.. there are so many cases of Nigerians been involved. But i am yet to read of it in e.news. So i think if only you and your journalists could write more about it and follow up on the stories i think it will make our nationals more aware of what to expect. I wouldn't say i am not impressed with your work but you need to be more of a two way street rather than a one way street . Keep up the good work... Sylvia
