Apple Chief, Steve Jobs dies @  56

Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind Apple's iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes, has died, Apple said. Jobs was 56.  Jobs died "peacefully" surrounded by family members, his family said in a statement.  Neither Jobs' family nor Apple revealed where Jobs died or from what cause, though in recent years he had fought a form of pancreatic cancer and had a liver transplant.

Paper Independence
By Aba Saheed

What’s it we were celebrating? How could we as a country continue to delude ourselves and say we are independent or free? We all know that we are neither independent nor free. All indexes of independence or freedom are completely absent in our lives, in our ways and in our thoughts as a people. But nonetheless we continue to make ourselves a laughing stock in the eyes of the international community, especially the diplomats in our midst who are witnesses to our daily actions and activities.

Nigerian president addresses the nation

Praying 4 stability?
Fellow Compatriots,
On this day 51 years ago, the British Union Jack was lowered and replaced by our national Green-White-Green flag, heralding the independence of our nation. The 1st of October remains a special day for us, for Africa, and indeed the world.

Nigeria @ 51: Carelessly holding a gun
By Prince Charles Dickson

Dr. J. Goodluck
Caption: Nigerian president praying for miracle...A kì í mú ìbọn tetere. One does not hold a gun carelessly. (Always be careful in handling dangerous matters.) As we count days to our 51st independence anniversary, all is not well with our beloved nation Nigeria. This in itself is no news, given the fact that this phrase "all is not well" has become a popular refrain in recent years.

Nigeria @ 51: The giant tougher than its challenges
By Mrs Ohunene Scott-Ananaba
Fellow Compatriots,

As long as the Social, Political and Economic landscape of the country is plagued by Corruption and unpatriotic acts in the forms of fraud, disunity, tribalism, indiscipline, nepotism etc, a national, sustainable blueprint for development -which is in effect the bedrock of Mr President's Transformational Agenda- cannot be established.

Love the article on Gaddafi
We must rise above tribalism & divide & rule of the colonialist who stole & looted our treasure & planted their puppets to lord it over us..they alone can decide on whosoever is performing & the one that is corrupt..but the most corrupt nations are the western countries that plunder the resources of other nations & make them poorer & aid the rulers to steal & keep such ill gotten wealth in their country..yemen,syria etc have killed more than gadhafi but its not A̷̷̴ good investment for the west(this is laughable)because oil is not in these countries..when obasanjo annihilated the odi people in rivers state, they looked away because its in their favour & interest..one day! Hello from
Johannesburg
I was amazed to find a website for Africans in Hungary.
Looks like you have quite a community there. Here in SA we have some three million Zimbabweans living in exile and not much sign of going home ... but in Hungary??? Hope to meet you on one of my trips to Europe; was in Steirmark Austria near the Hungarian border earlier this month. Every good wish for 2011. Geoff in Jo'burg

I'm impressed by
ANH work but...
Interesting interview...
I think from what have been said, the Nigerian embassy here seem to be more concern about its nationals than we are for ourselves. Our complete disregard for the laws of Hungary isn't going to help Nigeria's image or going to promote what the Embassy is trying to showcase. So if the journalists could zoom-in more focus on Nigerians living, working and studying here in Hungary than scrutinizing the embassy and its every move, i think it would be of tremendous help to the embassy serving its nationals better and create more awareness about where we live . Taking the issues of illicit drugs and forged documents as typical examples.. there are so many cases of Nigerians been involved. But i am yet to read of it in e.news. So i think if only you and your journalists could write more about it and follow up on the stories i think it will make our nationals more aware of what to expect. I wouldn't say i am not impressed with your work but you need to be more of a two way street rather than a one way street . Keep up the good work... Sylvia
