The trophy for the so called humanitarian intervention in Libya is oil – said an analyst. The intervention is to serve the interest of oil corporations and extend the influence of USA / Europe in Africa. It has nothing to do with humanitarian intervention or saving of Libyan lives. You don’t save lives with 110 tomahawk missiles.
Here is a story line very much familiar to the likes of General Emmanuel Noriega of Panama, President Saddam Hussein of Iraq, and President Mubarak of Egypt. Only 6 weeks ago Britain was buying oil and selling arms to Libya knowing too well that those advanced weapon systems would be attacked and destroyed 6 weeks later. British companies were investing in Libya and indeed that encouraged Libya to invest heavily in UK as well.
However, the UK government knew that those same assets would be frozen 6 weeks later - said a UK opposition politician. Once the appointed time was up, Libya’s status dropped from the most favoured nation to zero and ready to be blown up to effect regime change. While US/UK/France called for dialogue, peaceful and political settlement in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen, and Bahrain military solution, destruction, and death were the prescription for Libya - why?
In an interview on RT Tv today Sunday 20 March 2011, Mr Stephen Lendman, a radio host of political talk-show in Chicago, USA released the following statements:
“In 2003 Gadhafi established good rapport with Washington. He had series of meeting with US officials including current US secretary of state, Mrs Clinton, who expressed very warm regard for Gadhafi”.
Unknown to him he was being deceived. What is going on now in Libya was planned many months in advance. Military engagement that US undertake doesn’t just happen. It isn’t planned a week or two in advance. This is planned months in advance – logistics, targets to pick out, troop deployments, and massaging of public opinion in America”.
Responding to a follow up question from RT TV on whether the Libyan uprising had nothing to do with likes of Egypt and other recent Arab revolutions he responded:
“Absolutely.. nothing to do with other uprisings. The other uprisings are very legitimate – Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Jordan. You hear very little of these in US media. But Libya is all over the media and has been for weeks. Gadhafi is targeted for removal. He is the bad guy. There are a lot of bad guys in the region. The ones that are Washington’s favourite get no criticism in US media. There is virtually no reporting about them. So Ali Saleh in Yemen can murder dozens; the same thing is going on in Bahrain; Saudi troops are involved in murdering civilians and occupying the country..it is barely noticed in the West.
No outrage from Obama. No outrage from Hillary Clinton…but Gadhafi who did not instigate the violence in Libya..he responded to it. He responded to US special forces, CIA agents, and British SAS going into Libya months in advance, enlisting support, arming them, funding them, and setting them up violently against Gadhafi forces. That is called an insurrection. No responsible leader cannot respond to insurrection. If it happens in USA, Russia or Europe, there will be similar government response”.
Africans – open your eyes. The future is fraught with mysteries and uncertainties. The Arab League has been used and misled into legitimising an illegal war. No one is talking about humanitarian assistance to the Libyan citizens caught up in a crises financed, cooked in Washington, and served by Europe.
Moreover, like Iraq, the children of Libya will start suffering from the effects of depleted uranium shortly following the use of tomahawk and other warheads by US forces on various locations in Libya. Other European countries are joining the waves of attacks on Libya because it provides live and risk-free training targets for their armed forces.
New weapon systems are being tested on Libyan targets and civilians from warships and submarines because any life not European or American is dispensable. Moreover, American and European servicemen and politicians are exempt from the powers of the UN War Crimes Tribunal. For these double standards, President Obama has secured his place as a onetime president. Yes he will!
