PRESS RELEASE

Afrocentricity International condemns the attack on Africans in Libya

Afrocentricity International calls for an immediate investigation into the attacks on Africans by the Arab rebels of the Transitional Council in Libya. There are ominous signs coming out of Libya about the assault on “dark-skinned” people who live in Libya or who are migrant workers in the oil and agricultural sectors.

As in Misrata and now in Tripoli we have seen the NATO and Western-backed Benghazi rebels take out their frustrations on black people. Blacks in Libya have long believed that the Gaddafi regime was the one force that was willing to hold back Arab racism. Now with the end of Gaddafi's government many in the Arab population have assaulted blacks with impunity, lynching Africans in Benghazi like the Ku Klux Klan did in the American South. Afrocentricity International stands on the side of justice and fairness and we condemn the attacks on the unarmed blacks of Libya.

We reject the unjustified attacks on black people in Libya.

We reject the Arab response to these racial attacks.

We reject the Transitional Council's explanation that these workers and citizens of Libya are a danger to the Libyan people.

We reject the negation of Africans on African lands.

WE DEMAND AN IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF ALL BLACKS HELD IN PRISON IN LIBYA!

The people of the cities of Bani Walid and Sabha are indigenous Libyans. Since Libya is in Africa it is to be understood that blacks are the original people of Libya. The fact that Arabs from Arabia, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, and Palestine who arrived in Africa recently now assume the role of aggressors against the indigenous people is a sign of disrespect and racism. Perhaps this is another reason why the West and the Benghazi ethnic groups disliked Muammar Gaddafi.

There was never any doubt in the mind of Gaddafi about the status of black people in Libya. He knew that Africa was a black continent and that the Arabs were the real “migrants” to the continent however long they had been there. Gaddafi also warned that there were elements among the Arabs in North Africa who were committed to undermining the black populations. Thus, the Transitional Council, in its misguided attack on black people in Libya, has demonstrated the correctness of Gaddafi's views.

He wanted to see Libya take its place alongside other African nations like Niger, Chad, Mali, and others in a continental state that would bring about unity. This was what the Sirte Declaration was about that created the African Union. Afrocenricity International is outraged at the mass killing of Chadians during the early days of the revolt. We are shocked by the lack of international protest. We need a United States of Africa now more than ever!

However, the West never wanted to see a United States of Africa. All along Europe has tried to subvert the idea of unity among Africans. The Western nations feared Gaddafi's vision of Africa and went about encouraging the most primitive and retrogressive actors in Eastern Libya to undermine the progressive democratic government of Libya. Such a primitive attitude as exercised by the Arab racists harks back to the days when Arabs fought against Africans in Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, Morocco, Mauretania, and Somalia. The idea that black people are “abd,” meaning “slaves” in Arabic has never been washed from the mind of many Arab Libyans.

Therefore, Afrocentricity International demands that the African Union act with urgency to protect the lives of black citizens and residents of Libya. We believe that the African Union must mount an investigation, an expedition if necessary, and a propaganda campaign against the physical attacks on Africans in Libya. This must be done in haste to avoid the massacre of the blacks in Libya. Do it now! Our motto remains, “Unity is our Aim, Victory is our Destiny!”

Love the article on Gaddafi
We must rise above tribalism & divide & rule of the colonialist who stole & looted our treasure & planted their puppets to lord it over us..they alone can decide on whosoever is performing & the one that is corrupt..but the most corrupt nations are the western countries that plunder the resources of other nations & make them poorer & aid the rulers to steal & keep such ill gotten wealth in their country..yemen,syria etc have killed more than gadhafi but its not A̷̷̴ good investment for the west(this is laughable)because oil is not in these countries..when obasanjo annihilated the odi people in rivers state, they looked away because its in their favour & interest..one day! Hello from
Johannesburg
I was amazed to find a website for Africans in Hungary.
Looks like you have quite a community there. Here in SA we have some three million Zimbabweans living in exile and not much sign of going home ... but in Hungary??? Hope to meet you on one of my trips to Europe; was in Steirmark Austria near the Hungarian border earlier this month. Every good wish for 2011. Geoff in Jo'burg

I'm impressed by
ANH work but...
Interesting interview...
I think from what have been said, the Nigerian embassy here seem to be more concern about its nationals than we are for ourselves. Our complete disregard for the laws of Hungary isn't going to help Nigeria's image or going to promote what the Embassy is trying to showcase. So if the journalists could zoom-in more focus on Nigerians living, working and studying here in Hungary than scrutinizing the embassy and its every move, i think it would be of tremendous help to the embassy serving its nationals better and create more awareness about where we live . Taking the issues of illicit drugs and forged documents as typical examples.. there are so many cases of Nigerians been involved. But i am yet to read of it in e.news. So i think if only you and your journalists could write more about it and follow up on the stories i think it will make our nationals more aware of what to expect. I wouldn't say i am not impressed with your work but you need to be more of a two way street rather than a one way street . Keep up the good work... Sylvia
