Tanzanian Union to be a brother’s keeper
By Hakeem Babalola

Budapest, Hungary - Tanzanians in Hungary has taken a step towards looking after each other in times of need. This was disclosed at a party organised by the Tanzanian Union while commemorating the 50th Independence Anniversary of the United Republic of Tanzania held at the Kossuth Klub on December 10.

Speaking exclusively to African News Hungary, the chairman of Tanzanian Union Hungary said that the most important thing is to “integrate ourselves to solving our own problems without necessarily seeking outside aids or help”.

TU chairman & the Secretary-General
“We are trying to gather our forces,” said Josephat Rugaika who has been residing here for 30 years. He added that although there could be no guarantee every problem would be solved, the Union is determined to do its best for Tanzanians in Hungary.

Mr. Rugaika explained further that it is the responsibility of Tanzanians in the Diaspora to promote their country nay Africa.

To achieve this purpose, he believed all factors that can impede progress must be avoided saying, “general understanding is the secret behind” any successful union.

While commending Tanzanians for embracing unity despite the fact that the country has about 120 tribes, Rugaika attributed the success to language. “Tanzanians are united because we speak one language – Swahili,” he said.

8th district Mayor representative & a Cultural Anthropologist
Dr. Ibolya Tomory, a Cultural Anthropologist who has been in Tanzania several times and who did her field work there about 11 years ago described the country as beautiful and peaceful, saying she loves the fact that both Muslim and Christians; even tribes live together in peace.

Apart from being peaceful, the landscape seems to be another factor why Tanzania is worth visiting. “Tanzania is exotic and fantastic,” said Sántha Péterné who represented the Mayor of 8th District.

Serengeti Troupe
Guests were entertained by the Serengeti Troupe whose music and dancing apparently thrilled the audience.

Tanzania is a state composed of 26 regions (mikoa), including those of the autonomous region of Zanzibar. The name Tanzania derives from the names of the two states Tanganyika and Zanzibar that united in 1964 to form the United Republic of Tanganyika and Zanzibar, which later the same year was renamed the United Republic of Tanzania.

The highest mountain in Africa – Mount Kilimanjaro – is situated in Kilimanjaro National Park in Tanzania.

Love the article on Gaddafi
We must rise above tribalism & divide & rule of the colonialist who stole & looted our treasure & planted their puppets to lord it over us..they alone can decide on whosoever is performing & the one that is corrupt..but the most corrupt nations are the western countries that plunder the resources of other nations & make them poorer & aid the rulers to steal & keep such ill gotten wealth in their country..yemen,syria etc have killed more than gadhafi but its not A̷̷̴ good investment for the west(this is laughable)because oil is not in these countries..when obasanjo annihilated the odi people in rivers state, they looked away because its in their favour & interest..one day! Hello from
Johannesburg
I was amazed to find a website for Africans in Hungary.
Looks like you have quite a community there. Here in SA we have some three million Zimbabweans living in exile and not much sign of going home ... but in Hungary??? Hope to meet you on one of my trips to Europe; was in Steirmark Austria near the Hungarian border earlier this month. Every good wish for 2011. Geoff in Jo'burg

I'm impressed by
ANH work but...
Interesting interview...
I think from what have been said, the Nigerian embassy here seem to be more concern about its nationals than we are for ourselves. Our complete disregard for the laws of Hungary isn't going to help Nigeria's image or going to promote what the Embassy is trying to showcase. So if the journalists could zoom-in more focus on Nigerians living, working and studying here in Hungary than scrutinizing the embassy and its every move, i think it would be of tremendous help to the embassy serving its nationals better and create more awareness about where we live . Taking the issues of illicit drugs and forged documents as typical examples.. there are so many cases of Nigerians been involved. But i am yet to read of it in e.news. So i think if only you and your journalists could write more about it and follow up on the stories i think it will make our nationals more aware of what to expect. I wouldn't say i am not impressed with your work but you need to be more of a two way street rather than a one way street . Keep up the good work... Sylvia
