Guinea Bissau president dies in Paris military hospital
A report on Guinea-Bissau’s national radio says the country’s President Malam Bacai Sanha has died in military hospital in Paris, France.
The late president had been receiving medical treatment for an undisclosed illness in France since November, after an initial stay in a Senegalese hospital.
According to reports, the 64-year-old Sanha died at the Val de Grace military hospital in Paris after frequent sojourns in hospitals since becoming president.
The head of the country’s Navy, Jose Americo Bubo Na Tchuto, was arrested on allegations of attempting to seize power following a shootout in a military barracks lat December.
