Military invasion of Ogoniland: Matters arising
By Fegalo Nsuke
Last week's invasion of Ogoni which saw the untimely death
of an estimated 42 persons is an indication of the crude and brutal Nigerian
military and underscores the need for a re-orientation of our armed forces. It
highlights the need for military reforms in Nigeria to give priority for the
respect for human rights of citizens and in particular the respect for the
sanctity of human life.
