Sanusi's letter to Jonathan: Amaechi ‘s response

The office of the Minister of Transport said their attention has been drawn to reports in the media that tends to infer and/or suggest that immediate past governor of Rivers State and now Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi surreptitiously and clandestinely ‘leaked’ a letter written by former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor and now Emir of Kano, Sanusi Muhammad 11 to then President Goodluck Jonathan on the non-remittance of $49.8 billion from oil sale to the federation account.

Merkel warns of return to nationalism unless EU borders protected

Rome (AFP) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday urged European leaders to protect the EU's external borders or risk a "return to nationalism". Border defence represents a "challenge for the future of Europe" from "the Mediterranean to the North Pole", Merkel told a joint press conference in Rome with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

Hungary's PM Orban: 'Islamization' banned by constitution

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Hungary's constitution bans "Islamization" because the document aims to protect Hungarian language and culture, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said Monday. Orban also said the constitution forces the government to oppose any kind of mass migration that would endanger those principles.

During the build-up to the 2015 presidential elections, the All Progressives Congress, APC, had hinged its campaign on one major advantage: President Buhari’s credibility. Buhari became exceptionally unique, standing out as an open, honest and most believable among the candidates for the presidential election. At least, his party’s campaign messages made him so. It was an offer that would attract many among a Nigerian political class where lies, failed promises, self interest, rights violations, and insensitivity to the sufferings of the poor were dominant.
