Nigeria's ex-defence chief raided staff salary funds

Abuja (AFP) - Nigeria's former chief of defence staff bought property including a $5.5 million mansion with air force money, passing off his fraudulent withdrawals as staff salaries, a court heard Wednesday. Retired air chief marshal Alex Badeh is on trial at a federal high court in Abuja, accused of diverting 3.97 billion naira ($19.8 million, 18 million euros) for his own use.

United Kingdom: Non-EU migrants earning less than £35,000 to be deported

From next month, non-EU migrants in the UK earning less than £35,000 will be deported. The new Home Office policy, which comes into force on April 6, applies to all overseas workers who have been in the UK for five years on a Tier 2 visa. If they can’t prove that they’re earning more than £35,000, they will be denied settlement and will face deportation. Teachers, IT professionals and journalists could all be badly affected. A petition launched at the beginning of the year called for the threshold to be reconsidered – it gathered more than 100,000 signatures and was debated in parliament last week. So what’s actually changing?

Bicske, Hungary - An Afghan family walked along the sidewalk leading to the entrance, flashed their ID cards and passed through the rotating steel gate into the Bicske camp. Home to hundreds of refugees and migrants who stopped over in Hungary on their way to Western Europe, Bicske is one of three refugee camps providing temporary residence across Hungary.

I have no doubt in my mind that Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers state is a tragic hero. Taking full control of primitive power after a recently  dubious and highly contestable supreme Court judgement, Rivers, in the words of Karl Maier, is a house that's fallen. Just like what Adolf Hitler did to the Jews, Wike(d) is on the verge of achieving a global notoriety of political terrorism with the intent to wipe out a whole generation of political class in the opposition in Rivers.
