In his speech at the Africa Forum, János Martonyi, aimed to promote cooperation between Africa and Hungary, and congratulated Africa on the achievements it has achieved over the past five decades since the establishment of the Organisation of African Unity. He underlined that Africa has become a successful continent, something which should be celebrated throughout the world.
Hungary wants to further develop its relations with Africa; moreover, it would like to assist in tackling the challenges faced by the continent and to contribute to ensuring security, peace and stability in addition to taking advantage of the rise of the African continent.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister said that – besides discussing the most important issues – it was also the purpose of this Forum to lay the foundations for political, economic and cultural cooperation. Agriculture, renewable energy and pharmaceutics are the major areas in which Hungary and the nations of Africa could enhance their cooperation to the greatest extent.
Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, emphasised in her speech that the significance of Africa would grow further in the future since the continent was rich in natural resources, its population was young and its economic growth was dynamic.
